Why choose this degree programme?

International outlook

During your first two years at EWA Madrid, you will build a solid foundation in mathematics, statistics, computer science and programming while developing knowledge and skills in the key areas of digitalisation. In your third year in Germany, you will deepen your expertise through projects and modules aligned with the latest developments in research.

Learn by creating real value for your partner company

The dual study model closely connects academic knowledge with professional practice: the scientific knowledge you gain in class will help you understand the background of processes and projects in a business environment. At the same time, the experience you gain at your company will enrich your perspective on the content covered during your studies.

Guaranteed monthly allowance throughout all three academic years, as well as access to travel grants.

Small classes and leading companies

Our small class sizes allow you to take ownership of your learning in a creative and collaborative environment. The international profile of our partner companies provides you with a broad and diverse perspective on the world of business.

Thanks to the partnerships established with host companies and the clear practical and international focus of the training.

Course content

The dual degree programme in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence covers the full range of relevant knowledge related to data, digitalisation, artificial intelligence and business organisation.

First and second years (EWA, Madrid)
The aim of the first two years is to provide you with the mathematical foundations of the degree programme (algebra and statistics), introduce you to technical areas (e.g. programming, databases, cloud computing, systems engineering, intelligent engineering) and train you in their application to the business world (e.g. digitalisation, project management, database management).

Third year (DHBW, Germany)
In the third year, you will deepen your knowledge of data science and artificial intelligence, including elective modules, modules focusing on current topics and practical projects. You will also broaden your understanding of the implementation of digital processes in businesses and, finally, conduct research and write your bachelor’s thesis.

Teaching staff and methodology

University lecturers and expert professionals

EWA’s teaching team comprises both university lecturers and professionals with extensive experience in the business world. True to our dual philosophy, at EWA we are committed to strengthening the link between academic teaching and practical training: the scientific knowledge you acquire in the classroom will help you understand the background to processes and projects in the business context. Likewise, the experience you gain in the workplace will enrich your perspective on the content you learn and the skills you develop during the academic phases.

Maximum class size: 20 students

At EWA, we are committed to interactive teaching methods; we encourage participation and promote teamwork centred on practical case studies and projects. The small group sizes facilitate this approach, as well as a close relationship with lecturers and personalised attention to students’ needs.

Cooperation and legal framework

The degree programme is offered under a cooperation agreement between EWA, the Universidad de Alcalá and Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW). A joint committee ensures compliance with the agreement. DHBW defines the curriculum and awards graduates an officially recognised bachelor’s degree (210 ECTS). Through its Lifelong Learning Service, the University of Alcalá guarantees the university-level standard of the modules taught and awards a certified lifelong learning programme (180 ECTS).

Fees and compensation

The dual partner company covers all academic costs and awards the student a grant, which is paid monthly. The minimum amount is €400 per month and is paid throughout all three years during both theoretical and practical phases.

In the first semester, the company provides a one-off allowance of €250 for books and study materials.

At the beginning of the third year, the student receives a one-off travel allowance of €450.
